Adult Swim Lessons

As an adult we understand that learning to swim can be a very daunting challenge.  The first step is choosing shoreline leisure to help you learn to swim, we will be with you every step of your swim journey. Our swim teachers are highly qualified in delivering the highest standard of swim lessons and experienced in dealing with the unique challenges of learning to swim as an adult– you are never ‘too old to learn’! Our swim teachers will aim to ensure you have the best experience possible. We aim to provide you with a relaxed, comfortable and social atmosphere to take away the stress associated with learning a new skill and help you overcome the inevitable struggles and challenges. We cater for adult swimmers of all levels of ability. Whether you are a complete beginner who might be very nervous or the more advanced swimmer who wants to brush up on some techniques, you can benefit from joining one of our 8-week adult programmes.

We have 3 different levels; Level 1 Beginners. Level 2 Intermediate lane swimming. Each of our levels are focused on specific skills to help you progress as quickly as possible. Please find a description of each level bellow:

Adult Lessons/LANE TRAINING CRITERIA

  • (Shallow End)

    This class is aimed at non-swimmers and those that are of a nervous nature around water.
    This first stage of our Adult Swimming Lessons aims to give swimmers the confidence to get into the pool safely, be able to move around the pool with confidence and not panic if splashed.
    The Beginner Adult Lessons are for people with no previous swimming experience or those that have had a bad experience in the past which has halted their swimming journey before all the necessary skills for lifelong participation have been achieved.
    • Water confidence
    • Putting your face in the water and learning the breathing techniques
    • Floating on your front and back using a flotation aid and gradually learning without
    • Basic Kicking and arm movement in the water.

  • (Shallow End Towards Deep End)

    The second stage of our Adult Swim Lessons aims to give swimmers the necessary skills to swim up to 10-15 metres independently, as well as the confidence to try other activities taking place in the pool including Aqua-fit or lane swimming.
    These classes are for people who have completed our beginner swim lessons or would like to improve their technique and build on stamina in order to take part in other pool activities or have a go at their first swimming challenge event.
    • Float unaided front and back
    • swim 10-15m arm and leg action in front crawl, back crawl and breaststroke
    • Improve Breathing Techniques
    • Improve swimming technique
    • Surface diving
    • Treading water

  • Our Adult Advanced Swim lessons aim to give swimmers the necessary skills to confidently be able to swim with good technique 25m of the pool and aim to prepare swimmers to enter our Adult Lane training course.
    These classes are for people who have completed our adult lessons beginner and intermediate lessons or for those that would like to develop more advanced swimming skills, and then progress to other areas in swimming such as competing in competitions or becoming a member of a club.

    • Increase distance and fitness each week.
    • Diving
    • Treading Water

  • This is a class is to help improve all over swim technique and stamina over swim distance. You will improve your swim strokes, stamina and swim endurance. You must be able to swim 100m non-stop in all 3 strokes Front Crawl, Back Crawl and Breaststroke, attempting 50m in butterfly. Our Adult Lane Training aims to give swimmers the necessary skills to confidently be able to swim with good technique 50m of the pool. These classes are for people that would like to develop more advanced swimming skills, be able to compete in competitions or become a member of a club.
